7 weeks left in this god forsaken state. Then it's on to Portland! I'm looking forward to living in Maine, as they say up there "The way life should be". Here's hoping that it is.

Saturday, was the memorial service/WPSC reunion. It was an enjoyable time, catching up with people I haven't seen in 8 years in some cases. We relieved some good times (clocks falling off the wall, all things Stan, Don't F#$% with my news!, Election Night horrors, "The Show" on WCRN, Yessssss!, playing back to back 7 minute songs with a sweeper so you can make a 7-11 run). I'll definately be back in September for the WPCTV/WPSC Reunion.

On Saturday I have to go to a memorial service for a man who I consider to be one of my mentors. John "Irish" Kiernan. He was the GM at WPSC back when I went to Willy P. Though I was only there a year, and I ended up becoming a Fire Scence Major instead, John gave me a look at how radio really works. I had wanted to go into Television production at that point, but I ended up concetrating on radio instead. I miss the days at WPSC, late nights at WCRN, and times in the production room, creating all sorts of crap.

88.7 WPSC-FM, The Spirit of North Jersey.

RIP John

I haven't updated this in a while. Maybe it will be good thearpy for me to do so. What has happened lately? Well for some reason I seem to attract women who don't want the nice guy and would prefer the asshole. Maybe its a sign that I should stop being a nice guy? I don't know. MB has issues she needs to work out on her own, I'm tired of being the only person to put any effort or energy in our relationship. She doesn't want one apparently, so why should I bother. Its like dating two different people sometimes. It would be so much easier if I could actually hate her. But I can't. I'm not going to put any more effort or enenrgy into this. If she wants some type of relationship, fine she needs to make the effort to call, because I am not fdoing so anymore. Because after all she did give me my walking papers so I am free again. Then why do I feel so hurt?

That big white piece of shit is interrupting the flow of my day right now. The pier was nice and quiet until THEY showed up. They steal our gator, our water connection, our sewage connection, have hundreds of people descend to our pier for tours, cause all sorts of noise and havoc in the barracks, and just make our lives miserable in general. I'm actually glad we're leaving Tuesday for fisheries patrol. Fuck the eagle.

So I finally decided to update the journal. Recently returned from FLA. All I can say is thank you Charley, Frances and Ivan for scaring the crap out of all the tourists thus leaving Disney and the rest of Orlando empty. I don't think I can ever go back unless its during another hurricane. No lines for ANYTHING! Despite a few setbacks MB and I suffered trying to get there, we made it, had a great time, and I kinda realized that this trip was going to be a make it or break it for the two of us. Its safe to say we made it.

The only bad news about the trip? I apparently have a stalker now. Someone can't get over the fact that I am actually dating someone else. They decided to pay a little visit to New London while I was in FL. Needless to say it wasn't pretty as the CGA Police had to get involved.

And the Skynrd Concert on Saturday? Yeah, it rocked! I never saw so many confederate flags in Montclair before.

I actually had fun getting lost in Noank Thursday night. It might have had something to do with the company I had with me. Noank, Long Point, Ledyard, Preston, its all good.

Pleh...Underway again. Bad things happen in 3s? Nope try 4s. So we try to leave port for the first time in 3 weeks. First problem. We can't shift power to the helm controls. So we fix that so the boat can actualy move. While transiting out towards New London Ledge Light, we notice the main propeller shaft is making this horrible noise. End up having to drift in the sound while we tighten bolts around the main motor. Third problem, the high temp alarm goes off for the Prop-Gen. The damn thing is running at about 160 when it should be around 105. We troubleshoot and end up having to adjust the packing gland on the main temp relief valve. Thats three, time to call it a day...Last problem, we dock back at the CGA and promptly lose ventilation thus making the engine room my personal sauna at 126 degrees (versus the normal 102 earlier today).

The damn boat is trying to tell us something...Don't leave port! But alas, we have to head out for 3 days. The only good thing? We come back in Thursday for the day, the same day that MB is coming up to see her folks. Good stuff there. I think a roadhouse trip is in order, since she doesn't hang out too much on the right side of the river :)

Happy retirement Q. Watch out for them seals. They tend to get nasty if you try to run them over with the boat.

I remember the look in your eyes
When I told you that this was goodbye
You were begging me not tonight
Not here, not now
We're looking up at the same night sky
And keep pretending the sun will not rise
Be together for one more night
Somewhere, somehow

If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
I know somewhere, somehow we'll be together
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away

Took the new truck for a roadtrip this past Sunday. Down to Jersey. It rides pretty good. Ended up getting back to CT at 4:30 the next morning. Good stuff.

I'm falling pretty hard for her.

I amn now the proud owner of the one thing I have wanted for many many years. A truck. Specificaly a 1996 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 pick-up with the 5 speed. Yes a stick...I haven't driven a stick in years, but I think its just like riding a bike. Well, practice makes perfect or something like that.I'm spending alot of time on the old service road in Waterford practicing.

And I have off on the 4th for sure! I had to guarantee it by taking leave days but I'll be off from the 1st-4th and it is well worth it. Woo!

I had planned on a nice weekend at the shore. Surf, sun and fun. Sat night, I ended up at a lounge in Pine Brook. The lounge used to be Ronnie's Funtime. Back in the day, I went to many a birthday party at Ronnie's. But that's beside the point. The real point was afterwards hanging out with MB. It was an interesting night (and morning) to say the least. Alot better than some of my past dates thats for sure.

Subject:A seagull shit infested rock in the sound

So we started our lighthouse project in LI Sound yesterday. Race Rock is a seagull shit infested rock off the coast of Fisher's Island and Eaton's Neck. Actually its not a bad place, though I can't imagine how the old lighthouse keepers lived there, as a duty station. You really have to like isolation. Now that I think about it, it wouldn't be that bad.

We got to do some fishing, while out there...The stripers are running like crazy up the Thames, but no action in the sound. Bluefish however is another story entirely :)
